Boutique B&B in Galway with individually decorated rooms and locally sourced breakfast

Awards & Recognition

The Stop has been named Best in Ireland by McKennas Guides and included in their Top 100 Places to Stay in Ireland. The Guardian newspaper also gave the property an excellent review. Guests consistently rate the breakfast and hospitality among the highest in the city.

Rooms

Each of the 12 rooms is individually decorated with local artwork, giving every stay a distinct character. Rooms include a private bathroom, heating, and a choice of pillows, but no television. Some rooms are compact, with the smallest bathrooms noted in guest reviews, while the family room offers a double and twin bed.

Breakfast & Dining

A daily breakfast made with locally sourced ingredients is served in the dining room, accompanied by a record player playing vinyl music. The menu includes options like shakshuka, pancakes, and scrambled eggs with bacon, plus a buffet of yogurt, stewed fruits, and homemade sourdough bread. Guests can also request special dietary adaptations and enjoy freshly baked cookies in the evenings.

Location & Parking

The Stop is located a 5-minute walk from central Galway, half a mile from the coast, and 10 minutes on foot from Salthill promenade. Eyre Square, Galway City Museum, and the Spanish Arch are within a 15-minute walk. Free private parking is available on-site, and Galway Railway Station is less than 1.5 km away.

Amenities & Atmosphere

Guests have access to a welcoming shared lounge with sofas, board games, and books. Free Wi-Fi is available throughout the property. The hotel also provides a designated smoking area, invoice provided, fire extinguishers, key access, and smoke alarms.

“I find this Galway B&B particularly appealing: it is a short walk from the city center, yet offers free private parking, which is a real advantage. SOLID stay

vegetarian option great value
The breakfast was great. I liked the menu adapting when i asked for a vegetarian option, they were happy to help. The request system at night for breakfast the next morning works fine, even with a slight misunderstanding one night, something was still made quickly. it was VERY good value.
